BHANGEERAH IN "AMICS DE LES ARTS"
Under the banner "Alternative-Ambient Rock" and under the influence of Björk, Peter Gabriel or Pink Floyd, Bhangeerah played live in the "Amics de les Arts" café within the schedule of the "TAC'07" festival (Terrassa Acciò Creativa). The three members of the group had already given a taste of what they can do live in a concert they played at "La Báscula" in Barcelona. An intimist music with a variety of registers that we enjoyed having a tea with lemon. The lyrics tell us things about the intelligence. They narrate the perversity of the system which contaminates our relationships. A trio -who lives and writes in Terrassa- too rich in events, correspondences, feelings and colours to fully apreciate it as a whole and too enthralling to have a small café as an audience. This band needs a whole stage and multimedia and visual effects to generate the right atmosphere for their music.
Bhangeerah is a band that sounds amazingly well live. The three musicians look for inspiration in the world that surrounds them: "Luna", "Hoy", "Me verás caer", "A Hope of Dream", "Friday Night" are some of the titles of their first CD which is still under construction. After a year of serious work, this band reflects a deep insight into the relationships between sounds and feelings. Without a doubt this is a pleasant surprise in this summer festival held by "Amics de les Arts".
A couple who comes from the world of the theatre, trained in the hardships of going from stage to stage, and a quiet and self-taught one-man band able to write, play drums or pick up the guitar and play unplugged. A band with a remarkable influence from Anglo-Saxon music, in fact half of their songs are written in English. The three musicians build narrative stories with a deliberate ambiguity. To their enchantment of reality we must add their creativity and deep observation about the human nature. All these elements give an outstanding depth and credibility to their work.
The soundtracks for the movies or theatre plays are another magnificent "tour de force" for the band, who consider writing and composing as a splendid, lucid and highly satisfactory artistic creative experience and this shows in their concerts. Songs which are too rich in events, correspondences, feelings and colours to wholly encompass them in a single listening. Some of their performances are on the web. Their web page, http://bhangeerah.blogspot.com has been created to show the work of this metaphorical and visionary group that has a great control over both literary elements and the confusion of the senses.
The great lesson of this band is remaining loyal to their style and principles without giving in to the laws of the market which only look for a commercial product. This is a desperate enterprise in a world where the utopias are dead. Bands like Bhangeerah reveal the other side of music groups; grieving the past, anxious about the future and anguished with their present.
